Happy Waitangi Day!

Sunday, February 5, 2012
Today was church! I love church! I love that the gospel is still true no matter where you are! It is amazing! We were told today that only one of the church buildings in Christchurch suffered minimal damage in the Earthquakes that have struck this area in the last year. All of the church members of Christchurch now go to that building. We were also told that they lost enough people because of people moving and what not that they lost an entire ward! How crazy is that!

This place is amazing and the people are so strong!

After church we went back to the hotel and started cooking dinner. The plan was to have all 25 of us (20 BYU girls, our director, her husband, and 2 kids, and James Ah Mu (our tour guide)) over to one of our rooms for a Spaghetti dinner! It was delicious and was fun to sit around and talk with everyone.
Tomorrow is a Holiday in New Zealand. It is called Waitangi day! Because of the Holiday there is this thing called Sparks in the Parks going on in the park right next to us. A few of us decided to head over and check it out! There was a big concert going on, with an orchestra playing classical music. We sat in the grass and enjoyed it for awhile and then we got ahold of the YSA of the ward we went to earlier that day! We figured out where they were sitting and went and joined them. It was fun to talk to some people from New Zealand. After talking to them for awhile and listening to music, there were finally some sparks (fireworks). They were fun to watch while listening to the music!

Today was a great Sunday! I just loved it!
